Kathy was born in South Carolina as the youngest of six siblings. Kathy came to California and ultimately Crews’ Home four 1/2 years ago.
Kathy has her Bachelor’s in Science in Sociology from the College of Charleston and her Master’s of Science in Social Work from the University of Louisville where she earned the Field Placement Award for Excellence!
Miss Kathy (as she is known to the girls and all who work with her) has always worked with children and youth at church in Kentucky and South Carolina. Kathy has an extensive background including working for a year with Child Protective Services; a year at the Cancer Center in Kentucky and three years as an in-home therapist for seriously emotional disturbed children and their families. Kathy also worked for 12 years with a day program, residential program and crisis stabilization unit with dual diagnosis adults (mental illness and substance abuse).
Kathy is currently working on getting her LCSW in California, since hers wouldn't transfer from Kentucky.
At church, Kathy works in the children's church each Sunday and teaches three year-olds on Wednesdays. She teaches English as a second language (ESL), active in weekly visitations and the singles' ministry.
Kathy enjoys her pride and joy: Ace (her Terrier) and spending time with family and friends, walking, the beach, baseball, basketball and of course: Disneyland.
